Being in the City, Viewing the City - Du Haijun Solo Exhibition

Contemporary urban life is essentially a multifaceted, multidimensional narrative. We exist simultaneously as "settlers" and "observers"—immersed in the lively hustle and bustle of the streets, while also lingering in refined cultural spaces. Often, we step back, attempting to observe others in the city through countless window panes, while simultaneously discerning the contours of our own selves. Du Haijun's artistic creation is a profound contemplation and reflection on this narrative of urban existence. Titled Being in the City, Viewing the City, this exhibition does not simply present two themes in juxtaposition; rather, it seeks to reveal the inherent philosophical tension within his paintings. How do we construct the complex relationship between ourselves and the city through the dialectic of simultaneously "being in" and "viewing" the city?
